World Leprosy Day 2022

World Leprosy Day is observed on the last Sunday of January every year, to increase public awareness of leprosy. This year St Francis Leprosy Guild are asking the Catholic community to reflect upon and pray for the work of the Catholic nuns who dedicate their lives to caring for people with leprosy. In addition to their patron, Cardinal Vincent Nichols, St Francis Leprosy Guild is supported by Bishop Declan Lang (Bishop of Clifton), in his capacity as Lead Bishop on International Affairs. An interactive book to help children (aged 5 - 10) understand the Roman Catholic Mass has been published. Sue has written this book to help children understand what is happening around them, but also enthuses about the love of God and the positive impact faith can have on each one of us. It is an ideal gift for children embarking on the journey to First Holy Communion. SVP Support Centre in Newcastle are asking for donations. They provide a range of support from helping a free hot meal service, food parcels, clothing, toiletries etc. The Centre also has a small Vintage Charity Boutique shop, which helps to raise much needed funds. Donations of Food, clothing, handbags, shoes, toiletries, accessories and other small household items are always needed. If you have items you would like to donate please bring to Mass at leave them at the back of Church.
