Rev. Fr. Frank McCullagh

Retired Priest

Fr. Frank is retired and lives in the presbytery at St. Joseph's. He started his priestly ministry with the Verona Fathers in Italy.

Having spent many years in Italy, Fr. Frank returned to his home diocese and has been parish priest in numerous parishes in the diocese including Jarrow, South Shields and Berwick. Since 2005 he has been a priest of the Mary the Virgin deanery and has been in parishes in Easington Colliery, Hutton Henry, Peterlee and Thornley. He finished his active ministry in the parishes of St Mary Magdalen in Seaham Harbour and Our Lady of Lourdes in Shotton. Upon his retirement in August 2020, he took up residency in the presbytery at St. Joseph's in Murton. Fr. Frank is a great help around the parish, is around most weekends for Mass and celebrates each Mass every Wednesday. He is a keen gardener and can often be seen cutting the grass and keeping the grounds looking tip top! Outside parish life he is an avid football fan and a supporter of Newcastle United.
